Yahoo! It’s Westport-Wadhams Day!

Here we are, in the thick of summer, and Westport is hopping! Read on for a full list of fun things to do during Westport-Wadhams Day, Saturday July 6th, from the CATS scavenger hunt in the early morning to dancing, music, the parade, and so much more, all the way to the grand finale of fireworks from Lee Park at dusk. Put on your red white and blue, roll out the picnic blanket and join in the festivities!


ALL DAY ACTIVITIES


10am-4pm: Annual Used Book Sale on the Library Lawn: Come gather your summer reading titles to fill your balmy evenings on the porch or by the lake! You just might find enough stories to brighten your winter too..

10am-4pm: Annual Tag Sale at Ballard Park: Another event to be excited about each year! Fabulous finds, from beautiful artwork, furnishings with character, lamps and all the treasures in between.

10an-3pm: Spirit of Place Art Exhibit at the Heritage House: This is a truly outstanding art exhibit of the diverse works of Champlain Valley Artists! Our area is home to lifelong professional artists in varied media, as well as amateurs and aspiring creators of all kinds. Come see everything from paintings to graphite drawings, textiles, stained glass and paper sculpture.

SCHEDULE OF OTHER EVENTS

8am-10am: Family-friendly Scavenger Hunt! Starts at the bottom of Lee Park by the playground. This should take approximately one hour. Start anytime between 8-10am and 10am, and finish in time for the parade! Sponsored by Champlain Area Trails. (CATS).

10am-3pm: Bouncy House on the Library Lawn: Kids can enjoy bouncing before and after the parade!

10am-1pm: Flowers Plus! Westport Chair Raffle, outside JAMBS Coffee. Grab a chance to win your own Westport Chair! (Thomas Lee design: $269 value!) 3 tickets for $5. Proceeds support the amazing town beautification projects of the Flowers Plus! Committee. Drawing will be right after the parade. You don’t have to be present to win.

11:am-2pm: Stilt Walker amble, and Tattoos (washable), Main Street/Library Lawn.

10am: Parade lineup at the Fairgrounds. (for participants)

11am-12pm: Parade begins at Fairgrounds and arrives at Main Street across from the Library. Woot woot!

11am-2pm: Spicy and Sweet Michigans, Nachos, Strawberry Shortcake, Silent Auction at the Westport Federated Church! All proceeds will benefit the church Capital Campaign Fund.

1:30pm-2:30pm: Puppetkabob! Puppet Show with puppet-making workshop afterwards. Westport Heritage House. (Photo courtesy of Puppetkabob) Don’t miss the magic and artistry! “Sarah studied marionettes in Germany with Legendary Master Puppeteer Albrecht Roser and has performed with marionettes across the U.S., Canada, Germany, Austria, France and China. She toured with the marionette rock-opera Don't Trust Anyone Over Thirty with Phillip Huber, for which Sarah made the puppets costumes.” Adults and kids alike will be entranced.  Made possible, in part, by the Essex County Arts Council's Cultural Assistance Program Grant with funding provided by Essex County. 

12pm-3pm: FAMILY FESTIVAL at Portside! Axe-Throwing Booth, Pipsqueak the Clown, Face Painting Arts and Activities. Yay!

3pm-5pm: Family Concert and Square Dance with Adirondack Two Step, Ballard Park. Enjoy an afternoon of outdoor dancing and music with kids! Free cowboy hat and bandana to the first 50 children!

5pm-7pm: Pig Roast at Westport Hose Company # 1! This is your quintessential July 4th feast, serving pulled pork, tossed salad, seasoned potatoes, pasta salad, hamburgers, hotdogs, lemonade and more.

5pm-7pm: Depot Theatre production of Analog and Vinyl: “a musical rom-com romp featuring a memorable score infused with the influence of Elvis Costello, the Beatles, and Brian Wilson!” Get your tickets HERE.

7pm-8:30pm: Evening Concert and Square Dance with Adirondack Two Step, Ballard Park. Dance your way into the evening outdoors with a gorgeous lake view!

9:15pm: FIREWORKS AT LEE PARK! Pick your spot and revel in the colorful display.

9:30pm: LIVE MUSIC, THOSE GUYS at Portside Restaurant. Based in Connecticut, Those Guys are Gigmasters Rising Star Award for 2019-2022 for Most Popular and Top Wedding Band and Top Dance Band for the THIRD year in a row, and Best of The Bash for the fifth year in a row! Gather your clan and come on down to this beautiful venue on the lake and continue the celebration with an awesome cocktail and some rockin’ sound.
